WHAT MAKES A COMPREHENSIVE DIAGNOSTIC EVALUATION?

All of our evaluations are performed by licensed psychologists with extensive experience in autism assessment. Our clinicians bring to the table experience in the areas of parent training, school-based assessment, ASD through the lifespan, and clinical/educational consultation. All of our reports are reviewed by multiple clinicians to ensure that they are of the highest quality and meet or exceed the current standards of clinical practice.

Our psychologists are knowledgeable about other resources in the community and assist families with determining next steps.

OUR EVALUATIONS ARE MORE THAN JUST THE ADOS-2.

Although the ADOS-2 is often viewed as the “gold standard” of autism assessment, it is not a standalone measure. It only captures a sample of a kiddo’s behavior during an interaction with the examiner. In order for an assessment for ASD to be accurate and complete, developmental information is required. In addition, our psychologists work with families to gain a full understanding of our kiddos’ day-to-day functioning and we reach out to clinicians/schools as collaborative sources of information.

OUR EVALUATIONS ARE FOCUSED.

Because we specialize in assessment for ASD, we are able to probe for specific behaviors and characteristics that are common in the population. We are also able to generate autism-specific assessment reports within a short period of time. When other developmental concerns are indicated during our evaluations, our psychologists are knowledgeable about other resources in the community and assist families with determining next steps.

It is essential for families to have the opportunity to review assessment results with our clinicians.

WE BELIEVE IN THE IMPORTANCE OF GOOD RECOMMENDATIONS.

Many autism assessments provide a diagnosis but do not focus on specific recommendations to help kiddos and families. Assessments are only helpful when families can use them as a road map to determine the course of treatment. At InBloom, we focus on generating family-friendly reports with recommendations that can be implemented across settings. Recommendations may range from determining additional resources that may be helpful for kiddos and families to specific guidelines for ways to teach new behaviors and skills in the home.

FAMILIES HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO REVIEW EVALUATIONS

AND RECOMMENDATIONS WITH PSYCHOLOGISTS.

Although we strive to make our diagnostic reports as family-friendly as possible, it is essential for families to have the opportunity to review assessment results with our clinicians. Feedback sessions are included in the cost of our evaluations and psychologists fully explain the assessment findings and recommendations. Feedback is provided in the form of a conversation and families have the opportunity to ask questions and to bring up concerns with our psychologists. After our feedback meetings, all families should leave with a clear understanding about next steps and a foundation of resources to explore after leaving the clinic.
